What is pet insurance?
Insurance protects us from the unexpected, and what catches us more by surprise than a sick or injured pet? Most people don’t think about it, but there can be a great benefit to investing in a pet insurance policy. It can save you from unforeseen veterinary bills and expenses so you can just focus on the health and safety of your pet.
Enrollment
Our partner, TrustedPals, accepts all cats and dogs with no maximum age limit, unlike most insurance companies. Young and healthy pets will qualify for any plan and once your pet is enrolled, most plans offer coverage for life as long as you keep paying the premiums. Many pet insurance plans don’t let you choose your premium level, but TrustedPals offers flexible premium options to fit your budget. Pre-existing conditions aren’t covered unless your dog or cat are fully cured, and hereditary and chronic conditions are also covered with no restrictions.
What’s Covered?
Every pet insurance plan is a little different, but TrustedPals offers an extensive amount of coverage with their Accident & Illness policy. Exam fees are included for illness and injury as well as prescription medicines. They also cover alternative and holistic treatments and no yearly exam is required.
It’s important to note that, like most insurance policies, there is a wait period from when you pay for your insurance plan to when you become covered.
What Other Plans are Available?
Besides Accident & Illness, TrustedPals offers a Wellness Plan which will help cover your pet for everyday care. Most policies don’t cover things like nutritional supplements and annual wellness exams, but TrustedPals does. Things like heartworm testing, dental trauma, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and more are covered!
Every insurance company and policy is different which is why it’s important to do your research and find which one is best for you and your fur babies.
